Global economy to top agenda at ICC Banking Commission meeting in Qatar

ICC, in association with diamond sponsor Qatar National Bank, will host its biannual ICC Banking Commission Meeting in Doha, Qatar on 25-29 March 2012, with some 400 banking leaders and executives from 50 countries expected to attend.

Beijing, 26 October 2011  The rules set by bank regulators impose unwarranted capital requirements that choke trade and have adverse impacts on growth. A new report issued today by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) shows that trade finance is a relatively low-risk asset class that should not be feared by banks, nor overregulated by governments.

ICC response to Basel announcement on trade finance
Paris, 25 October 2011   The International Chamber of Commerce is pleased that the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision has announced measures that recognize trade finance as a low-risk activity for banks, and says that there is opportunity to further refine the rules to foster the development of trade and the support of SME clients.

Big shifts in trade and finance to be addressed at first ICC Banking Commission meeting in China
Paris, 26 September 2011  ICC, in association with ICC China, is set to host a major ICC Banking Commission meeting in Beijing from October 24-28 at the Marriot Beijing City Wall. The meeting, which will include a technical workshop and a trade finance summit, will be attended by eminent banking professionals, international organizations and supervisory bodies from over 80 countries.

SWIFT and ICC collaborate on enhanced rules and tools for trade finance
Paris, 21 September 2011  SWIFT, the financial messaging provider for more than 9,700 financial institutions and corporations in 209 countries, and the Banking Commission of ICC have signed a Declaration of Cooperation that will enable industry-wide adoption of the Bank Payment Obligation.
